Structure Fire Breaks Out in Santa Fe Mobile Home Leaving Two Dogs Deceased

SANTA FE – Late Sunday night a structure fire erupted in the 6900 block of Avenue L in a single-family mobile home just before 11:00 PM.

Firefighters were called to the scene with reports of occupants still being inside the home. Mutual aid arrived from Dickinson, La Marque, and Hitchcock. Once arriving to the scene, they were met with heavy flames engulfing the home.

Assistant Chief Jim Cargile it took the team approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.

According to officials an occupant was able to escape through a window before they arrived. They were then turned over to EMS who reported minor injuries and was later released at the scene.

Firefighters engaged in a primary search of the home, luckily finding no one else remaining within the structure.

Unfortunately, two dogs were found deceased from the fire.

The cause is still unknown at this time, but Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is stating they will begin investigating the scene sometime Monday morning.
