GALVESTON COUNTY — A months-long organized crime investigation led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, a firearm and other contraband during a series of coordinated search warrants executed across Galveston County, according to the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force.

Authorities said members of the task force, working with the Houston Homeland Security Task Force, executed five search warrants July 24 at locations in Texas City, La Marque, Dickinson and Texas City as part of an investigation aimed at disrupting organized criminal activity.

The search warrants were carried out at 31st Street Store & Lock in Texas City, Bo’s Self-Storage in La Marque, U-Haul Moving & Storage in La Marque, and residences in Dickinson and Texas City.

During the operation, investigators developed additional information that prompted Galveston County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy Sharp and K-9 Cash to conduct a free-air sniff at another storage unit. Investigators then obtained an additional search warrant, which led to the seizure of multiple kilograms of methamphetamine, along with cocaine, fentanyl and a handgun, according to the task force.

Authorities said the operation resulted in the seizure of:

• 11.5 pounds of methamphetamine
• 500 pressed methamphetamine pills
• Approximately 1 ounce of cocaine
• 50 fentanyl pills
• 3 pounds of marijuana
• A pill press
• Body armor
• A Smith & Wesson handgun
• U.S. currency

As a result of the investigation, Mone Ford, 22, was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, and delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 400 grams.

Authorities said Ford’s bond was set at $2 million.

The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force said it will continue working with local, state and federal partners to combat organized crime throughout the county.
