GALVESTON — A suspect was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after allegedly stealing a City of Galveston work truck and leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Harris County, authorities said.
According to Galveston Police Department spokesman Kurt Koopmann, the city-owned vehicle was reported stolen in Galveston at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Captain Tommy Maffei with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies joined the pursuit as the suspect fled northbound on Highway 146 through Texas City and Bacliff.
The pursuit continued into Harris County, where the suspect eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity, and officials have not said whether the stolen work truck sustained any damage.
Additional details, including potential charges, have not yet been released.
