SEABROOK — The Bayside Bazaar hosted its final market at Clear Lake Park, closing one chapter for the community shopping event as organizers prepare to bring some of its popular activities to League City.

The final event featured a plant swap, a Mad Hatter-themed teacup swap, about 40 vendors, food trucks and Singo bingo, organizer Amber Carlson said.

Carlson said organizers plan to continue the swaps and Singo bingo because of their popularity. Those activities will likely become part of an additional market day at the Sunset Bazaar, the organization’s original event in League City.

“We love the Singo bingo and the swaps,” Carlson said. “They’re a lot of fun.”

The additional Sunset Bazaar date could begin later this year or sometime next year, although Carlson said plans have not been finalized.

Carlson described the decision to leave the Bayside Bazaar’s current location as bittersweet. While the venue provided organizers with plenty of room and protection from the summer heat, she said the surrounding population was not large enough to support the market at the level organizers needed.

“I’m actually excited because I live in League City,” Carlson said. “I love our League City community. It’s a great spot, but the population density isn’t where we need it to be, so we are excited to move it to Sunset.”

Carlson said she will miss the size and amenities of the current location, including its large courtyard, green space, smokehouse and spacious restrooms.

The venue’s 35,000-square-foot pavilion also provided shade and fans for vendors and visitors.

“We’re shaded and fanned and not so red-faced today,” Carlson said. “I will miss this.”

Although the Bayside Bazaar is ending at its current location, Carlson said organizers hope to preserve the atmosphere and community activities that helped distinguish the market.

Details about future Sunset Bazaar dates and the addition of Bayside Bazaar activities are expected to be announced once plans are finalized.
