Stormy Labor Day Weekend Ahead

Aaron Quiroz Avatar

Key Takeaways

  • Stormy pattern this weekend expected
  • Hot temperatures linger, with storms bringing some relief
  • Gusty winds and heavy localized rainfall are the main threats with any storms this weekend, but I can’t rule out an isolated severe thunderstorm or two

The Weekend

HRRR simulated radar for Saturday @ 7 PM

A low pressure system is currently situated over the Gulf, which is why I am expecting daily storm chances across Galveston County. Abundant moisture is in place to allow storms to produce heavy rainfall at times, which could bring localized flooding. I am expecting widespread 1-3 inches of rainfall. Here is what to expect:

Timeline & Impacts:

  • Storms will be likely each day between the late morning hours into the early evening hours. 10am-8pm
  • Most widespread coverage of storms in the afternoon hours
  • Gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning will be the main threats with these storms
  • Expect impacts to any outdoor plans you have

The Weather Team at KGTX 7 will continue monitoring the storms this weekend, and provide updates as needed.

Thank you for your response. ✨
