GALVESTON — Fire, EMS and police responded to Murdoch’s Bathhouse on Seawall Boulevard Sunday evening following a reported bomb threat, according to Galveston Police Kurt Koopmann.

The call came in around 6:13 p.m. near closing time for the business.

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) sent a bomb-detection dog to assist with the response. According to Koopmann, the dog did not locate any explosive devices, and the call was eventually cleared.

KGTX 7 asked whether investigators had any indication the incident was connected to a bomb hoax reported in the area last month. Officials said there were no signs indicating a connection at this time.

Some comments on social media Sunday evening speculated that the emergency response may have involved a possible drowning. Galveston Beach Patrol Chief Austin Kirwin told KGTX 7 that was not the case.

No explosive device was reported to have been found.
