Key Highlights
- Increasing moisture from the Gulf will bring scattered showers throughout the week. The weekend will see minor chances of showers due to a cold front moving in along with northwesterly winds that will bring drier and less humid conditions along with a minor breeze.
- Rip currents are possible all throughout the week. By the weekend, winds will taper off with minor rip current effects.
- High pressure will dominate throughout most of the week bringing dry air and slightly humid conditions as northeasterly breezy winds remain at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
Scattered Weekday Showers Ahead

HRRR radar displaying scattered light to moderate showers on Monday afternoon
High pressure will dominate the region situated to the east over the Gulf bringing dry air and partly cloudy skies. Winds will be from the southeast at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph each day allowing the conditions to feel somewhat breezy. The southeasterly winds will also filter in some warmer and moist tropical air from the Gulf and allow for scattered showers to be possible to occur each day with the greatest chances on Monday and Tuesday with the highest moisture content.
Patchy fog may develop each night due to increasing humidity throughout this time frame. Any strong localized thunderstorm could lead to some ponding of water on the roadways, flooding along the coast, and could cause some flooding in poor drainage areas.
By the mid week, the moisture should begin to taper off as the high begins to weaken and as winds begin to taper some. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s with the low temperatures in the upper 70s.
Rip currents will be possible through this timeframe as well.
Late week through the Weekend
High pressure will maintain mostly dry conditions through late week, although lingering moisture could support isolated light showers. Winds will gradually weaken and shift to the northwest, bringing cooler, drier, and less humid conditions. A cold front is expected to move through the region by the weekend, with a slight chance of showers, particularly along the coast. Patchy fog may also develop overnight, especially in coastal areas.
Partly cloudy skies will prevail, with high temperatures gradually decreasing from the upper 80s to the upper 70s. Overnight lows will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Rip currents will remain possible along the coast. Beachgoers should continue to exercise caution and monitor local beach conditions.
Tropical Activity Update

The National Hurricane Center has displayed another area of disorganized storms associated with a weak area of low pressure a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. It is expected to move north and west by midweek. However, the upper level wind field will become too sheared for any further organization to occur to favor any strengthening of tropical activity. Therefore, Galveston and the surrounding areas should be free of any tropical activity for the week ahead.
