Aaron Quiroz Avatar

Key Takeaways

  • Scattered thunderstorms Friday morning will move out of the area by the early afternoon
  • Gusty winds up to 45 mph will ramp up Friday afternoon and last through Saturday morning
  • Cold Front will make its way through Galveston county into Friday night
  • Cooler and drier temps will last through the weekend

Friday

Current RADAR imagery Friday morning

A complex of thunderstorms is currently situated off the coast this morning. I am expecting some increasing coverage in thunderstorms as the morning progresses, but I am keeping coverage below 50% for Galveston county.

The big story today is a strong cold front that is currently trekking its way across the southern half of Texas. It is expected to completely move through Galveston county by late afternoon today.

The cold front will bring much cooler and drier temperatures. For those along the immediate coast, temperatures won’t become as chilly as further inland, but a noticeable change will be felt.

Secure any loose items outside as well, as winds will be gusting up to 45 mph Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

Saturday & Sunday

You will definitely need a jacket Saturday and Sunday morning. Low temperatures will be in the low 50s, keeping closer to 60 degrees along the immediate coast. High temperatures will be in the low 70s.

Gusty winds will slowly calm down Saturday, especially into the afternoon hours. Overall, Saturday and Sunday are looking to be beautiful days.
