KEMAH — In response to the widespread devastation caused by recent flooding in Central Texas, the Kemah Police Department has announced “Operation Kemah Cares,” a relief effort to collect donations for affected families.

Donations will be accepted at the Kemah Police Department on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Officers are currently coordinating logistics with Frisard Trucking, which is sending a tractor trailer from Louisiana to help transport supplies to the impacted region.

According to officials, many families in Central Texas have lost everything in the flooding. The department is currently assembling a full list of requested items, but for now is asking for personal care products, household goods, and clothing.

“We’re planning and preparing for what we expect to be a large community effort,” the department said. “This is an opportunity for our city to step up and help those in need.”

In addition to physical goods, monetary donations are being accepted through a partnership with the Relentless Defender Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting families and first responders. Funds collected will go toward critical supplies and aid for both displaced residents and emergency crews conducting search efforts.
