HITCHCOCK — The Hitchcock ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Darryl J. Henson as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Henson has been serving in the district since September 2 and, according to the district, has focused on strengthening transparency, financial accountability, and academic support.
District officials say that beginning in October, Dr. Henson introduced new financial practices that include monthly public financial reports, online access to all board documents, and the establishment of a Financial Oversight Committee.
He has also increased instructional support across all campuses, providing additional resources for both teachers and students.
“Dr. Henson’s long-term vision—even when it has required making publicly hard decisions—is what protects the future of Hitchcock ISD,” Board President Chad Allen said in a written statement. “His leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence have already made an impact.”
State law requires a 21-day waiting period before the board can officially vote to hire Dr. Henson as superintendent.
