FRIENDSWOOD – Police responded to a burglary of a motor vehicle around 10:30 a.m. on December 18 in the 5000 block of FM 2351. Officers learned the theft occurred around 9:15 a.m. and involved a purse taken from a vehicle. Inside the purse were a Glock pistol, credit and debit cards, an engagement ring, and other jewelry.

Surveillance video from the area helped officers identify both the suspect and the vehicle involved. Using that footage, investigators tracked the suspect to a motel in the 8600 block of the Gulf Freeway.

Later that evening, around 8:00 p.m., the Friendswood Police Department’s Field Support Unit took Vincent Walker, 60, of Houston, into custody. Walker was arrested on two outstanding Fort Bend County warrants for debit and credit card abuse.

At the time of his arrest, officers say Walker was also found in possession of a firearm, methamphetamine, and identifying information belonging to several individuals.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted additional charges against Walker, including possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. His bond has not yet been set, and investigators say further charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Due to the quick work of Friendswood officers, the engagement ring stolen during the burglary was recovered and returned to its owner just in time for her wedding day on December 19, police confirmed.
