BACLIFF – A local business owner is behind bars after investigators say he took nearly $188,000 from customers for vehicle work that was never completed.
According to the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, Joshua Marshall, 43, was arrested December 31 on a charge of theft of property valued between $150,000 and $300,000. The arrest followed a months-long investigation into complaints involving OnPoint Auto Customs LLC, located in Bacliff.
Investigators say the case began in September 2025, when multiple customers reported paying large sums of money for vehicle repairs and custom work that were never finished. As the complaints mounted, the task force, working alongside the Galveston County Constable’s Office Precinct 1, conducted a repair shop inspection authorized under the Texas Occupations Code.
Through that inspection and follow-up investigation, detectives identified 16 victims. The total value of the alleged stolen property was estimated at $187,937.35.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved felony theft charges against Marshall, who investigators identified as the business owner and operator. A warrant was signed by 10th District Court Judge Rebecca Millo on December 31.
Marshall was arrested later that day at his residence in Seabrook by auto crimes investigators and deputies with the Galveston County Constable’s Office Precinct 1. Bond was set at $375,874.70, an amount equal to twice the estimated value of the alleged stolen property.
Authorities say the investigation remains active and additional victims may exist. Anyone who believes they were affected or has information related to the case is asked to contact the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force at (409) 766-4500.
