KEMAH — A Houston man has been arrested following a fatal crash in the Kemah area last December, according to a Galveston County Press Release.

Galveston County authorities took 23-year-old Jimmy Villalobos into custody on February 2 in connection with a single-vehicle crash that occurred December 14 at the intersection of Highway 146 and State Highway 96. Villalobos faces a charge of manslaughter with bond set at $100,000.

The crash killed 24-year-old Cassie Willis of Baytown. Another passenger, 31-year-old Edwin Villalobos, was also in the vehicle but survived. Police say Villalobos was suspected of driving under the influence when the vehicle left the Kemah Bar District shortly before the crash.

The Galveston County Major Crimes Unit and Crash Reconstruction Team led the investigation, conducting interviews and analyzing the scene. The case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office before the arrest warrant was issued.

Villalobos is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail.
