LEAGUE CITY – Fire damaged a League City home Monday afternoon, prompting a response from several area fire departments.

Crews were called around 4:20 p.m. to the 700 block of Jeb Stewart Drive, where they found heavy fire coming from a two-story house. Firefighters from League City were assisted by Webster and Santa Fe fire departments.

Fire crews remained on location for several hours working to bring the blaze under control and check for hot spots.

An assistant fire chief says a preliminary investigation indicates the fire was accidental and started on the second floor. The exact cause remains under investigation.

About half of the home was damaged or destroyed. One adult was treated for minor burns. No deaths were reported.
