BACLIFF — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested April Jones, 40, and Antonio Morones, 42, both of Bacliff, in connection with an aggravated robbery investigation.

On February 9, 2026, deputies responded to an aggravated robbery in the 4200 block of Fuqua Street. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim with an apparent stab wound. The injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported meeting Jones online through the Nextdoor application after responding to an advertisement. After communicating for several days, the victim agreed to meet Jones at a residence on Fuqua Street. When the victim arrived, he was attacked by Morones, who was hiding inside a closet. During the assault, Morones produced a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspects then stole items from the victim and left the location.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit conducted a follow-up investigation. Detectives said they discovered evidence indicating the victim was intentionally lured to the residence and determined Jones and Morones conspired to assault and rob him.

Jones and Morones were later located and found in possession of the victim’s reported belongings, along with other fraudulent documents.

The case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, which approved charges of aggravated robbery with a $100,000 bond and fraud use or possession of identifying information under five items with a $10,000 bond. Both suspects are currently being held in the Galveston County Jail.
