DICKINSON – Four homes were damaged in a fire Monday afternoon in Dickinson, leaving several residents displaced and sending one firefighter to the hospital.
According to Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Jeff Billiott, crews responded to the 5000 block of Captain’s Drive and found two homes already on fire when firefighters arrived.
The fire ultimately affected four houses. Two homes were considered a total loss, one is believed to be repairable, and another remains under evaluation to determine the extent of the damage.
Billiott said four residents were displaced by the fire.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital with a shoulder injury sustained while battling the blaze.
Officials also reported multiple animal fatalities as a result of the fire.
Firefighters from several neighboring departments assisted at the scene, including crews from League City, Texas City, Santa Fe and La Marque.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Billiott said the department is continuing to collect witness statements and expects to have more information within about a week.
