LEAGUE CITY — A 26-year-old Dickinson man who had been missing for several days was found dead Friday in League City, according to authorities.

Lewis Moreno had been reported missing after he was last seen leaving his residence in Dickinson around 3 p.m. on Monday, April 13.

According to the initial missing-person alert from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno was later believed to have traveled to the Academy Sports + Outdoors area in Webster shortly after leaving home.

Investigators said he was last seen wearing pajama pants, a black-and-white checkered shirt and brown Crocs. Authorities had also been searching for his dark gray Chevrolet Malibu.

On Saturday, Officer Trevor Montero with the League City Police Department confirmed Moreno was found at the Lowe’s on FM 646 with what investigators believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Montero said the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken possession of the body, and the sheriff’s office may become further involved as the investigation continues.

Earlier in the week, the sheriff’s office had asked anyone with information about Moreno’s whereabouts, vehicle or disappearance to contact investigators or Texas EquuSearch, who was also involved in the search.
