SANTA FE — A suspect is now in custody as of Friday evening, after a SWAT standoff with police, according to the Santa Fe Police Department.
Authorities said officers responded to a call at approximately 9:45 AM, to the 12000 Block of 11th St., following a disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend with a shot fired.
Chief Robert Shores of Santa Fe Police, says that upon arrival, the girlfriend was unharmed; however the suspect barricaded himself into the residence.
The La Marque’s tactical response team was contacted and negotiated with the suspect for four hours, until authorities made their way into the residence.
According to Santa Fe Police, a taser was deployed after the suspect resisted upon contact inside the residence, but was transported to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities say the suspect had an arrest warrant signed by a judge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and will be taken to Galveston County Jail.
