Staff Reports Avatar

PEARLAND – On Thursday, at approximately 1:08 a.m., Pearland Police responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash with possible entrapment in the 15500 block of the State Highway 288 Toll Ramp South.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle on fire with four occupants inside. Three of the occupants appeared unresponsive. Officers immediately attempted to extinguish the fire and remove the occupants until Pearland Fire Department personnel arrived on scene.

Fire personnel successfully extricated three occupants, who were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. One occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Pearland Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Drone Team, and Crash Reconstruction Team are conducting the investigation.

Due to the severity of the crash and the damage sustained to the guardrail, all southbound traffic on State Highway 288 Toll Road has been diverted.

The Toll Road is temporarily inaccessible from the Hughes Ranch and Discovery Bay entrance ramps.

TXDOT has been notified, and we are working with them to make sure the roadway is safe before reopening.
