To ensure safety and comfort for participants and spectators during the summer heat, the contest will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at noon. Proceeds and donations during the event will help fund Galveston Island Humane Society’s goal, including innovative life-saving adoption programs, high-volume community spay and neuter initiatives, emergency response services for animals and families in crisis, and continued community outreach efforts.

“Ohana Surf & Skate and the Galveston Island Humane Society are committed to creating a united community where kindness, compassion, and humane animal care remain priorities,” organizers said. “The Surf Dog Competition is more than just a fun event on the beach — it is an opportunity to bring the community together while making a positive impact for local animals in need.”
