LEAGUE CITY — League City Police Department officers arrested two people following a vehicle pursuit and narcotics investigation earlier this week, according to authorities.
Police said the incident began around 1:21 p.m. on May 11 after an officer observed a traffic violation involving a black Mercedes CLA250 near South Gulf Freeway and FM 646.
According to investigators, the driver fled after officers attempted a traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot, leading police on a pursuit through League City and onto Interstate 45.
Authorities said the vehicle later exited near Century Boulevard and entered an apartment complex in the 8800 block of Emmett F. Lowry Boulevard, where officers and deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office located the suspects.
Police identified the driver as James Robinson, 26, of Hitchcock. Robinson was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and endangering a child. His total bond was set at $65,000, according to officials.
Authorities also arrested Breannah Hampton, 23, of Texas City, who was charged with possession of marijuana between four ounces and five pounds. Bond for that charge was set at $20,000.
Investigators said officers observed Hampton discarding a package during the incident that was later determined to contain more than one pound of marijuana.
Police said the couple’s 1-year-old son was inside the vehicle during the pursuit. The child was released to a family member at the scene and no injuries were reported.
