SANTA FE — Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a late-night fire Friday in the 5200 block of Highland Road that damaged several exterior storage buildings.

According to Assistant Chief Boudreaux, the call was initially reported as a structure fire at approximately 11:18 p.m. When crews arrived, they found five exterior storage buildings involved.

Firefighters also observed propane tanks venting in the area, creating additional hazards for crews working the scene.

The fire was brought under control after approximately 30 minutes. Firefighters remained on scene extinguishing hot spots due to the large amount of materials throughout the yard.

Mutual aid departments assisting at the scene included the Santa Fe, Dickinson, La Marque, and Hitchcock fire departments.

No injuries were reported. Information regarding the cause of the fire was not immediately available.
