SANTA FE — Firefighters from several agencies responded to a late-night fire in the 5600 block of Highland Road early Friday morning.
The fire was reported around midnight at a property located off the roadway. According to responders, the blaze occurred in the rear portion of a compound containing travel trailers and smaller structures.
Due to the location of the fire deep within the property and a narrow access roadway, firefighting operations took place largely out of view from the street. An engine and tanker were able to navigate the access road and reach the scene.
Fire departments from Santa Fe, Dickinson, Hitchcock and La Marque assisted with the response.
One resident sustained an injury during the incident but declined medical treatment, according to officials.
The extent of the damage has not yet been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
This is the second fire reported on Highland Road within the past week. Authorities have not indicated whether the incidents are related.
