TEXAS CITY – The search for a missing 17-year-old near the Texas City Dike has come to a tragic end.

Texas EquuSearch confirmed Sunday that the remains of Nathan Lowery, 17, were recovered at approximately 4 p.m. in the ship channel between Smith and Eagle Point.

The search began Saturday around 5:30 a.m. after Lowery was reported missing. Recovery efforts continued for nearly two days before crews located him Sunday afternoon.

According to Texas EquuSearch, Lowery’s remains have been returned to his family.

His family is requesting privacy as they grieve.
