TEXAS CITY — Families are invited to a free, Mary Poppins-themed community event in Texas City next week featuring crafts, games, kite-making activities and an outdoor movie.
The City of Texas City will host “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” on Wednesday, July 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the 6th Street Community Plaza, located at 718 6th Street North.
According to the city, the event will include kite-making, sidewalk chalk art, crafts, games and a screening of the classic film Mary Poppins.
The event is free and open to the public.
City officials said the plaza’s amenities, including the food truck park, splash pad, dog park and playground, will remain open throughout the evening.
