GALVESTON — Firefighters have contained a large warehouse fire that broke out Wednesday night at Texas Gulf Seafood after an overnight response involving multiple agencies from across Galveston County.
The Galveston Fire Department said crews were dispatched around 8:40 p.m. to the seafood warehouse near Seventh Street and Wharf Road, where they found the building fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters rescued three people and one dog from the building. No injuries were reported.
Crews, assisted by agencies from throughout Galveston County and the Port of Houston, worked through the night before bringing the fire under control early Thursday morning.
Residents may continue to see smoke in the area as the structure continues to smolder. Firefighters will remain at the scene throughout the day to monitor conditions and ensure the fire remains contained.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Galveston Fire Marshal’s Office.
