The City of Galveston Opens Applications for 13 Board and Commission Positions

GALVESTON — The Galveston City Council is accepting applications for several city boards and commissions as it prepares to consider new appointments.

According to a news release from the city’s Community Outreach Department, applications are being accepted for the following:

  • Airport Advisory Committee
  • Arts Development Commission
  • Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals
  • Civilian Review Board
  • Ethics Commission
  • Finance, Fiscal Affairs and Investment Committee
  • Galveston Housing Finance Corporation/Galveston Property Finance Authority
  • Galveston Wharves Board
  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
  • Planning Commission
  • Police Pension Fund
  • Sister Cities Program Committee
  • Zoning Board of Adjustments

Those interested in serving on the Planning Commission or Galveston Wharves Board must apply by Thursday, Sept. 3. The City Council is expected to make appointments during its Sept. 17 meeting.

Although the council has discontinued in-person interviews, applications are still being accepted. Applicants are encouraged to contact the mayor or City Council members directly by email.
