Scattered Showers on Labor Day, Rain Chances Persist Through the Week

Rainy Start to the Week

Scattered light showers are expected from Labor Day through the first half of the week, with the greatest chances during the afternoon hours as Gulf moisture moves into Southeast Texas.

Rain chances will remain relatively low, with light rainfall amounts expected, as a high-pressure system to the west keeps conditions mostly calm and stable. However, Gulf moisture could overcome some of that stability and produce isolated showers, especially in areas south of I-10 and near the coast.

Expect partly cloudy skies with easterly winds on Labor Day. Winds will shift to a southerly pattern Tuesday and remain generally southerly through the rest of the week and into the weekend.

High temperatures will remain in the lower 90s, with lows in the lower 80s throughout the week. Heat index values will range between 105 and 108 degrees.

Midweek Through the Weekend

Higher rain chances are expected from midweek through the weekend, with some rainfall potentially heavy at times.

The heaviest localized rainfall is expected along coastal areas and south of I-10, especially during the afternoon hours, as an upper-level disturbance strengthens and weakens the high-pressure system to the west. Meanwhile, the sea breeze and an influx of Gulf moisture will move inland across the Southeast Texas coast.

Patchy fog could develop during the evening and overnight hours in areas that receive the most rainfall as increased moisture remains near the surface.
