BACLIFF — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 4800 block of 14th Street in Bacliff on Monday night.

According to GCSO Captain Tommy Maffei, the call was received around 10:15 p.m.

Scanner traffic indicated that the suspect fled the scene and that the victim later left the area and met with EMS before being transported to HCA Houston Clear Lake. The victim’s current condition and the extent of their injuries are unknown.

Neighbors also reported hearing a vehicle speeding away from the area.

According to Maffei, members of the Criminal Investigation Division and crime scene units were en-route to the scene.

At this time, scanner traffic indicates that a person of interest has been identified, but no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
