LEAGUE CITY – A Safe Sitter workshop aimed at preparing young teens to stay home alone and care for younger children is coming to League City later this month.
The Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR class will be held Saturday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the League City Community Center. The instructor-led course is designed for ages 10 to 14 and focuses on safety skills for babysitting and supervising younger siblings.
Participants will learn CPR, choking rescue techniques, and other basic first aid skills through hands-on activities, games, and role-playing scenarios. Organizers say the class is designed to build confidence and help students know how to respond in emergencies. Girl Scouts who attend can also earn childcare badges.
Students are asked to bring a sack lunch and a large doll or stuffed animal for practice exercises during the training.
The cost is $75 per participant. Additional workshop dates are scheduled for February 21, March 21, April 25, and May 16.
