TEXAS CITY — The City of Texas City recently received four awards in the international Communicator Awards competition hosted by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts.
According to the city, the competition receives thousands of entries each year from organizations and companies around the world.
Texas City earned three Awards of Distinction, including recognition in the General Press Release category for a release highlighting five residents credited with helping save the life of a crash victim.
The city also received Awards of Distinction for videos produced as part of its “On the Job” and “Texas City Tells Unsolved” series.
In addition, the city received the competition’s highest honor, the Award of Excellence, for a police recruitment video produced by the city’s Communications Department. City officials said the video was inspired by the television show Friends and generated hundreds of thousands of online views.
According to the city, the recruitment campaign also contributed to increased turnout at recent police department entrance exams.
Awards are selected by a panel of judges from the communications, marketing and creative industries. This year’s judging panel included representatives from companies including JPMorgan Chase, FedEx and Netflix.
The Communicator Awards program recognizes work in marketing, communications and creative media from organizations across the United States and internationally.
