LEAGUE CITY — A multi-agency undercover narcotics investigation led to the seizure of large quantities of controlled substances and the arrest of two men, according to authorities.

Officials said the operation was conducted May 14 by the Organized Crime Task Force in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations and the League City Police Department.

Investigators said the case began with a controlled delivery involving a package containing more than 15 kilograms of Tapentadol tablets.

According to authorities, detectives arranged for the package to be delivered to Syed Ahmed, 30, at a Shell gas station located along FM 518 in League City, where he was reportedly employed.

Police said Ahmed later left the business with the package and was stopped by investigators shortly afterward. During the investigation, authorities said Ahmed admitted additional narcotics were located at an apartment in Houston.

Detectives later obtained and executed a search warrant at the apartment, where investigators said they recovered additional controlled substances.

Authorities reported recovering:

  • 59 kilograms of Carisoprodol
  • 34.9 kilograms of Tapentadol
  • 4.5 kilograms of Zolpidem
  • 7.4 kilograms of Modafinil
  • 3.6 kilograms of Pregabalin
  • 11.6 kilograms of Sildenafil

Investigators said Syed Ahmed and Mohammed Ahmed were both arrested and charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 greater than 400 grams.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
