TEXAS CITY — Young anglers and their families are invited to cast a line this weekend as the City of Texas City hosts its annual Kid Fish event at Carver Park Pond.
The free event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to noon and will feature a pond stocked with hundreds of fish to give participants plenty of chances to reel in a catch.
While the event is geared toward children ages 6 to 12, city officials say people of all ages are welcome to participate.
“This is a good event to get kids and families outside together without electronics, just creating memories and relaxing,” Parks Superintendent Byron Sefcik said in a statement.
Participants may bring their own fishing equipment or use a limited number of rods and reels provided by the city. The first 150 attendees will also receive free hot dogs.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event.
Kid Fish will take place at Carver Park Pond, located at 6615 Park Ave. Additional information is available through the City of Texas City website
