LEAGUE CITY – Law enforcement investigators from multiple Galveston County agencies are conducting a new search in the area commonly known as the Texas Killing Fields in League City.
The search is taking place near Calder Drive and includes assistance from volunteers with Texas EquuSearch.
Authorities said the effort is tied to the April arrest of James Elmore Jr., who faces charges related to the deaths of Laura Miller and Audrey Cook, two victims associated with the Killing Fields cases.
According to Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller, whose daughter Laura Miller was among the victims, Elmore approached him approximately four years ago claiming to have information about bodies buried in the area formerly known as Calder Road. Tim Miller said Elmore told him there was another victim buried there but did not provide a name.
Investigators have said Elmore was acquainted with Clyde Hedrick, who was long considered the primary suspect in the four Killing Fields murders. Hedrick died by suicide in March.
Authorities allege Elmore implicated himself in helping Hedrick dispose of the bodies of Laura Miller and Audrey Cook. He remains in the Galveston County Jail awaiting trial on charges of manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
The Texas Killing Fields investigation centers on the deaths of Laura Miller, Heide Fye Villareal, Audrey Cook and Donna Prudhomme, whose bodies were discovered in the same field between 1984 and 1991.
