WEBSTER — Two firefighters were injured and multiple families were displaced after a fire damaged an apartment building Saturday afternoon in Webster.

According to Webster Fire Chief Spencer, crews responded to the Pearce on the Lake Apartments in the 900 block of Henderson Avenue on June 20. The fire involved Building 12 and affected approximately 16 apartment units.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, but not before significant damage was reported to a large portion of the building.

Chief Spencer said two firefighters sustained injuries during the response. Information on the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

While many neighbors stated they believe lightning was the cause, it remains under investigation by the fire department.

Several neighboring agencies assisted with the response, including departments from League City, Nassau Bay, Friendswood, Seabrook, and Forest Bend.

As residents assessed the damage, some discussed disaster relief options through community fundraising efforts. Chief Spencer noted that the American Red Cross is also available to assist those impacted by the fire.
