DICKINSON — A man was taken into custody early Saturday after police found him inside a CVS Pharmacy in Dickinson, where he had apparently become trapped in a storage room after the store closed.

According to Dickinson Police Detective Guadalupe Vasquez, officers were dispatched to the CVS, located at 100 E. FM 517, around 1:30 a.m. after the store’s alarm system detected movement inside the building.

Police said officers had been called several times throughout the night regarding the same man after nearby businesses asked him to leave their properties.

Investigators said the man later entered the CVS and made his way into a storage room but was unable to get back out. Employees were reportedly unaware he was inside when they closed the store, prompting the alarm to activate after the business had closed.

Dickinson police officers, assisted by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, searched the building and located the man inside. He was taken into custody on a criminal trespass charge.

Detective Vasquez said the man is believed to be experiencing mental health issues and may receive a mental health evaluation after being transported to the Galveston County Jail.
